THE BITCOIN WARS: CHAPTER 1 (DEATH OF DARIUS)

It’s the winter of 2029 and the America that we knew has been drastically transformed. Dominated by a central banking elite, the nation witnessed the death of cash and was forced under a digital currency standard. The people’s terminal apathy, preoccupation with entertainment, and unwillingness to take a stand against domestic tyranny made their enslavement surprisingly easy. Few remnants of personal privacy remained as citizens’ daily lives were comprehensively surveilled, documented, and dictated. Personal wealth was systematically confiscated through a myriad of bureaucratic devices as the ruling caste became affluent and powerful beyond comprehension.

Despite their sweeping control over the populace, yet a relatively small band of insurgents continued to defy the State’s domination. Referring to Satoshi Nakamoto’s thirty thousand lines of BITCOIN code released in 2009 as America’s Second Declaration of Independence, the Bitcoiners, or as they were sometimes called, Nakameticians, succeeded in not only preserving their wealth through the Second Great Depression and ongoing malaise of the centrally-planned economy, but continued to spread their message with evangelistic fervor. The Orange Revolution was quickly becoming the focus and priority of the State. If the Nakameticians weren’t defeated soon, widespread rebellion might erupt across the land.

Enjoy this first chapter of The Bitcoin Wars, read by the author, and contemplate a possible future world where citizen apathy leads to comprehensive digital enslavement of a once free people.
